Starfield experiment

Damn, why did I had to start with a small canvas, why??

I saw a tutorial on how to do a good starfield on here, I did it on Photoshop but didn't quite got the desired results (mostly because I'm not used to brush)... So, I though "what the hell, let's do this on Paint.NET"
... This was so damn hard and long, I had to make tons of layers, blending modes, then flatening, then some ugly tricks to get some "ambiance", and finally the stars. Man, how hard it is to make big stars on PDN. I have to try more ways of doing 'em... If I figure them out all by myself :/

Anyway, enjoy while you can see it, most probably I'll move this to scraps soon....

Edit: Which "bright star" do you think looks best? I may start using that kind from now on.
